RECLAIMING POTENTIAL WITH CLARITY:
A THANK YOU, AND UNTIL NEXT TIME
If you had asked me at the beginning of 2026, when we chose our annual theme, Reclaiming Potential with Clarity, whether November would bring our final Explore and Soar blog and the closure of our services, I would have said, “No way!”
As we stepped into another year, we were focused on continuing to grow, learn and support our children and families. Through professional development in parent coaching, finding the one strategy that could make the greatest difference, and seeking clarity in our own lives, we continued to explore what meaningful support could look like.
But sometimes, the clarity we are searching for leads us somewhere we never expected.
Over time, we explored different options for the future of Explore and Soar. Despite our best efforts, the paths we hoped might work continued to reach dead ends. Eventually, we had to acknowledge that closing our doors to Occupational Therapy services was the decision we needed to make.
It has not been a quick or easy decision. Explore and Soar has been part of my life since 2018, and choosing to step away from something I have poured so much into has brought a lot of reflection, emotion and change.
Yet, in many ways, this is what Reclaiming Potential with Clarity has meant to me this year. Sometimes clarity isn’t about finding another way to keep everything going. Sometimes it is about recognising what matters most, accepting what is in front of us and having the courage to make a different choice.
For me, that also means prioritising my family and being present with my two young children during these precious early years. Explore and Soar has always required so much care, commitment and presence, and I have reached a point where I need to give that time and energy to my family.
To Our Incredible Team
It is with enormous gratitude and respect that I thank every member of the Explore and Soar team, past and present, who has helped shape the organisation into what it is today.
Your knowledge, dedication, individuality, compassion and shared passion for supporting children and families has made Explore and Soar what it is. You have shown up every day with care, curiosity and a willingness to keep learning, adapting and finding ways forward.
Together, we have celebrated achievements, navigated challenges, shared ideas and continued to question how we could do better for the families who trusted us.
I am so proud of what we have created together. Thank you for bringing your own strengths, perspectives and personalities to this team, and for making Explore and Soar a place where connection, trust and meaningful relationships have always mattered.
As we come to a close, each of you is beginning a new chapter. While there is sadness in ending this shared journey, there is also excitement for the opportunities ahead.
I wish every one of you the very best in your next adventures. May you continue to grow as Occupational Therapists, build meaningful connections and make a difference in the lives of the children and families you work alongside for many years to come.
Thank you for being part of the Explore and Soar story.
To Our Children, Families and Community
Over the past eight years, we have had the absolute privilege of becoming part of so many families’ lives.
We have been invited into vulnerable moments, listened to the challenges you have faced, worked through the hard days alongside you and celebrated the wins, both big and small.
We have watched children grow in confidence, discover their strengths, develop new skills and find their own ways to participate in the world around them. We have worked alongside parents and caregivers who have continued to advocate, learn, adapt and show up for their children, even when the journey has felt overwhelming.
These relationships have never been just about therapy sessions or goals on a page. They have been about connection, trust, understanding and working together towards what matters most to each child and family.
To every family who has welcomed us into their world, thank you for trusting us with your stories, your questions, your hopes and your children. It has been an honour to walk alongside you.
To the schools, educators, allied health professionals and community partners who have collaborated with us, shared their knowledge and helped us support children across their everyday environments, thank you for being part of that journey.
As Explore and Soar closes its doors to service delivery, we know that your journeys continue. We wish every child and family the very best as you move into your next chapter of support, growth and discovery.
We hope you continue to find people who listen, strategies that make a meaningful difference and environments where your children feel understood, supported and able to be themselves.
Keep celebrating the small steps. Keep recognising the progress that others might not see. Keep making room for connection, curiosity, play and joy.
And above all, keep remembering that every child’s journey is their own.
Reclaiming Potential with Clarity
As we reflect on our annual theme, I am reminded that potential isn’t something we need to force, rush or measure against someone else’s expectations.
Sometimes, reclaiming potential means looking more closely at what matters. It means recognising strengths, adapting our expectations, asking different questions and finding clarity in the next step, even when we cannot see the whole path ahead.
That has been true for the children and families we have supported. And it has been true for me, too.
While our time delivering Occupational Therapy services through Explore and Soar comes to a close, I will always be grateful for what these eight years have taught me, the people I have met and the privilege of being part of so many lives.
Explore and Soar has been built on the belief that every individual and family deserves the opportunity to confidently connect in their world, their way. That belief remains at the heart of everything we have shared.
So, as we close this chapter I want to say one final, heartfelt thank you.
Thank you for your trust. Thank you for your honesty and vulnerability. Thank you for the laughter, the learning, the challenges and the celebrations. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your journey.
And thank you for being part of ours.
Keep growing. Keep connecting. Keep exploring. And keep soaring.
Until next time,
Jess
